For Havaist, use the payment information for your actual route. Its Sultanahmet announcement dated 17 May 2026 lists Istanbulkart and bank-card payment on board. That does not make the airport coach an ordinary city-fare journey.

At a BELBİM machine, place the card on the reader, follow the top-up instructions and wait for completion before removing it. Check the displayed balance and keep the receipt. Start with credit for your planned journeys rather than loading a large amount simply because it is offered.
An online top-up can create a pending loading instruction. BELBİM explains that it must reach the card through a supported online reader or the Istanbulkart app on an NFC-enabled device. A successful bank payment alone is not proof that the physical card balance has updated.
