Plan your time in London
London rewards a plan built around areas rather than a list of far-apart landmarks. Westminster and the South Bank make one natural day; the Tower of London and the eastern riverside make another. Choose a small number of paid attractions, then leave space for parks, neighbourhoods and museum collections that match your interests.
Westminster and the South Bank
Start with an outdoor walk around Westminster, then cross the river to the South Bank. If the London Eye is a priority, place that booking into the route first. Keep time either side for the walk, queues and a meal, rather than assuming you can step straight from one activity into another.
The Tower and the eastern riverside
Make the Tower of London your main paid visit for a separate day. Afterwards, continue with the riverside at your own pace. If you add a cruise, read the departure pier carefully and check where it ends; an attractive-looking ticket may cover a different section of the river from the one you need.
Leave room for your own interests
Use another block for a museum, a market or a neighbourhood walk. Before buying a pass, list the paid attractions you actually intend to enter. A busy pass itinerary can leave little time for the unbooked parts of London, and transport inclusions should be checked separately from attraction admission.
Before you book
Can I fit London into one day?
You can enjoy one area and one major attraction. Our suggestion is to avoid combining distant neighbourhoods with several fixed entry times on such a short visit.
