Plan your time in Hong Kong
Hong Kong combines a dense waterfront city with hills and island landscapes. Give the harbour and Hong Kong Island one part of your trip, then decide whether you want to spend a separate day around Lantau. Choose a few paid viewpoints or transport experiences and leave time for the neighbourhoods between them.
Build a day around the harbour
Start with the neighbourhoods on one side of the harbour, then decide how you want to cross or see the water. A sightseeing boat and a transport crossing serve different purposes. Leave time at the waterfront itself rather than treating the view as something you only see from a paid activity.
Choose your viewpoint
The Peak adds a different perspective on the city. Before buying a package, check what it includes beyond the journey up. Weather can affect the experience of any viewpoint, so keep some flexibility if panoramic views are your main reason for going.
Treat Lantau as a separate outing
Ngong Ping Village and its nearby attractions are a natural focus for another day. Read the cable-car operating notices before setting out, and check whether your booking covers a return journey. Avoid making the end of this outing depend on a tightly timed city-centre reservation.
